May 11th: Silvertip Hole #9

Silvertip Hole #9 -- 444yd Par4 Handicap 2

Silvertip:

When you arrive at the highest point on the course (over 5,100 feet), the No.9 tee box, you will see a sweeping 434-yard dogleg left - all downhill. At the end of the journey is a huge jade-blue lake and waterfall. Reaching the Silvertip summit at the 9th earns you the extreme exhilaration of a roller coaster hole twisting down 100 feet. Hit your tee shot just left of the right fairway bunker and the ball will roll down the fairway towards the green.

(#9's slightly sloped fairway)

Don't let the slope rating scare you. You may have some silly downhill or sidehill lies, but not in excess. "Everything feeds into the fairways, so while it appears intimidating from the tee, actually you can really swing away. Everything may appear big and bold, but it plays easier than it looks. If you are relaxed and hitting the ball well, you can score well."

Note for the Driver of the Minivan:

The whole metric system has a way of throwing people off....some standard conversions:

100km/hr=60mph, 30km/hr=18mph, 3.78litres of gas=1 US gallon

Story time: Prior to our family trip to Germany some 6 years ago, M-Gizz could have used a refresher on these numbers....as I recall, we were cruising down the Autobahn, and without paying much attention, I finally turned to see just how fast MGz was driving....to my surprise, the spedometer read approximately 210km/hr. That translates to approximately 125mph (thankfully Linda was in the back seat, not noticing or else that may have started WWIII). The ridiculous thing about it was that if you got in the left lane and remained there for any more than 3 seconds, you'd have some Porsche up your ace wanting to go 300+km/hr. Fun stuff, wonder what kind of drivers/speed limits we'll encounter in Canadia. And while I'm not sure of the speed limits, these are some road signs you will probably see along the way.

(The life cycle of a deer....I'll keep an eye open for the next one of a dismembered deer strewn across the road)

(Nobody wants to see this one)
