May 13th: Silvertip Hole #11

Silvertip Hole #11 -- 432yd Par4 Handicap 11

Silvertip:
The clubhouse is brand new. It fits the mountain surroundings very well with quality dining as well as having a normal clubhouse menu. The patio is wonderful place to sit after your round and watch the golfers come down (I mean down, 100 feet of elevation drop) the 9th and 18th fairways. They are also building condos, a hotel, and some shops to make Silvertip a village.

Be sure to visit the stunning new Timbers Clubhouse and enjoy a 'wildly elegant' meal under the Douglas Fir cathedral ceiling at Rustica.

In addition to a beautiful new clubhouse, they have a good practice area with range balls included in your round. The carts have a GPS system, ball and club washer, two towels , water and a rain cover. We're talking high class folks! There are no beverage carts, but there is a snack bar you pass twice on the front and once on the back. You can also get your picture taken on the first tee and they will have it ready at the end of your round.

Also, please note the additional description and picture on #2 and the new picture for #3. (I did a new search for images of the course and found 5 new photos...thought you all would enjoy)

Our Nightly Watering Hole:
GRIZZLY PAW BREWING COMPANY ... a.k.a. "The Paw"
1.5km from the Falcon Crest Lodge, a 15minute walk passing cross-streets such as Kodiak, Muskrat, Lynx, Eagle, Fox, Elk, Deer, and Cougar. Hopefully each street does not have its own mascot patrolling.

As Canmore's only brewpub, this mountain lodge restaurant holds a special place in the hearts of Canmore's visitors. The brewery boasts six cold and fresh draught beers with setting-specific names such as Drooling Moose Pilsner and Grumpy Bear Honey Wheat. The menu offers a selection of casual fare featuring burgers, pizza, steaks, ribs, pastas, barbeque maple salmon kabobs, and the sort of finger foods that beg to be washed down with more ale. The huge patio is complete with a beautiful stone fireplace and is a popular spot for an outdoor Drooling Moose. Other beers include: Powder Hound Pilsner, Rutting Elk Red, Beavertail Raspberry Ale, Moose Knuckle "Beamer's Coffee" Stout, and Big Head Nut Brown (along with a selection of other seasonal brews).

Review: "As it was very loud inside (it is a brewpup people), we asked to sit outside - which has a great fire. The beer is good but pricey, as it can be picked up at local beer/wine shops for a far reduced price. The lunch tab for two was over $60." --Pat's take: Loud=good=bar, Canmore is touristy now, so things will be expensive...it shall be budgeted in.

Another review: "I love this place, plenty of pretty honeys and the staff rocks!"

  1. Pretty honeys? Prolly should skip it...

Additionally, that clubhouse pic there is magical.
