Banff Springs Hole #17

Banff Springs Hole #17 "Sarcee" 374-yard Par4 Handicap 18

A favorite hole of Doug Wood for its subtlety, Thompsonbuilt the largest bunkers down the left of thefairway to suggest to the golfer to go right. In fact, the further right one drives, the progressively worse the angle of attack into the green.

Ho-hum - just another day at Banff! As for the golf, the built up bunkering left pushes the golfer right, which is rarely ideal.......oh and don't mind the spectators!

Banff Springs GC:
Banff Springs probably says "Canada" more than any other course.

Thompson’s original redesign has changed little, but the additional nine holes meant a change in configuration. The new clubhouse was finished in 1989 and its hexagonal shape allows spectacular views of the course and the mountain peaks towering 8,000 feet above.

Banff:
Upper Hot Springs -- For $7.30cad and a brief drive south of town, these thermal springs draw bathers year-round to their warm, soothing waters. The complex, which was renovated in 1996, has attracted visitors since the 1880s and now boasts modern facilities, including a large outdoor pool, a wading pool, and an indoor spa. Several shops and a cafe are available as well. If you're ambitious, you can hike from town to the site over somewhat steep terrain. If not, simply enjoy the incredible vista from the comfort of the pool.
