Greywolf Golf Course Hole #4 "Descent" 490-yd Par4 Handicap 11
Hit the longest drive of your life from this spectacular tee aiming down the left side. Be sure to take one and a half clubs less on the approach favouring the right side of this back to front sloping green.
Holes four through six are amazing accomplishments in the world of golf design. The par 4, 4th begins the descent back to base camp. From high atop your perch the views of the Purcell Mountains will astound you. A good tee shot here is the pinnacle of golf satisfaction, as your ball will sail up with the eagles for what seems like eternity.
Greywolf GC:
Recognized by Golf Digest as one of the Top-100 Courses in the World Outside of the United States, Greywolf is about as impressive as mountain golf gets….also is #1 in BC (2005)
(Road through Kootenay to Greywolf)
Johnston Canyon Hiking:
30min NW of Banff …in comparison to Maligne Canyon, JC is more crowded, but does have better waterfalls. The waterfalls at Johnston Canyon blew away our expectations. The walkway is paved and there are plenty of places to sit and rest, read about the wildlife or just take in the peaceful scenery along the way. There is a viewing spot through a cave at the lower falls that was very cool. I highly recommend going the entire distance to the upper falls. It's not too far and well worth the walk.
A spectacular walk that is fairly strenuous to the upper falls only. Canyon walls are mossy and the forest shady and atmospheric. Can be busy so best to get there early or late to avoid the crowds. Both cascades are pretty but the upper falls is particularly attractive as there are no trees to impede the view.
I am so glad I read about this place and insisted we take the 'hike' on our recent trip to Banff. It is absolutely stunning. You must go and see for yourself. I would recommend this venture to anyone, and it is free!
