Mt.Kidd Hole #8

Mt. Kidd @ Kananaskis Country Golf Course Hole #8 183-yd Par3 Handicap 15

Prevailing southerly crosswind can make this tee shot extremely interesting. Accuracy is at a premium when hitting to this well-bunkered and undulating green.

Kananaskis Country GC:
Our last round of the trip in Alberta’s Canadian Rockies and we’d all seen plenty of elk, deer, coyote cubs, mountain sheep, ambitious squirrels running off with our Twix…But alas, no bear sighting. Lo and behold, on the 4th hole of our final round at Kananaskis Country’s Mt. Kidd Course, we stumbled upon the mother load: a grizzly and cub creeping its way onto the golf course. Kananaskis is known for its full tee sheets, thanks to its value price point of $90 and just an hour from Calgary. That said, no one really seemed to be complaining about the backup the bears caused on the 4th tee.

Remember that Bear Walking Thru The River:
You should only consider bear sprays with a net weight of at least 225 grams (7.9 ounces) and 1.4 to 1.8 percent capsaicin. If the spray has 10 percent Oleoresin of Capsicum (OC) it's definitely worth considering. Avoid vanillyl pelargonamide, or VC, as this is not a proven grizzly deterrent....Can't believe I didn't already buy 3 of them.
